Western Glam: Celebrating the Strength and Femininity of Cowgirls

July 6, 2023

I’ve always been fascinated by strong women.  We come in all shapes, sizes, wants and desires.  In the past year, I have been introduced to a new world.  The world of horses.   I was IN LOVE with horses as a little girl.  I remember sitting in one of my mom’s friend’s daughter’s rooms looking at all the riding ribbons and I was fascinated by the idea of riding and having a horse.

I started taking riding lessons, and I quickly fell in love with the feeling of being on horseback. There’s nothing quite like the wind in your hair and how quiet your mind gets as you ride.  For me, grooming and taking care of my horse is a feeling of peace I can not describe.  It’s my center of gravity.

In a heartbeat, I went from learning to ride to owning my own horse.  It’s an amazing relationship and has brought me closer to a community of women that LOVE LIFE, support each other, and appreciate this journey we call life.

The Heart of a Cowgirl

What does it mean to have the heart of a cowgirl? It means being strong, independent, and resilient. It means being willing to work hard and never give up. It means being kind and compassionate, but also tough and determined.

Cowgirls are some of the strongest and most capable women I know. They are not afraid to get their hands dirty, and they always put their family and friends first. They are also incredibly passionate about their horses and the Western lifestyle.

What’s most amazing is that while these women are in a competitive sport, they DO NOT compete with each other. They instead support each other in the good, bad, successes, and failures.  They are selfless in their giving and give often.  It’s empowering and humbling at the same time.  The world should be more like this.

Women Barrel Racers?

YES!!!!   Such an empowering role in a male-dominated sport.  Barrel racing women are feminine and strong, powerful and empowering.  They wear jeans and boots then change to summer dresses and heels.  They are Sexy AF in everything they do.

Let me tell you a little bit about this sport.  Barrel racing is a timed event, and the goal is to run a pattern around three barrels in the fastest time possible. This requires a lot of skill and control, and it is a very demanding sport. It is not easy. This sport takes a toll on your body, and it requires hours and hours of training, dedication, and fortitude. Barrel racers also have to take care of their horses, which is a full-time job in itself.  When you are in this sport you are all in, through the hurdles, practices, winning, and losing it can be one of the most rewarding experiences anyone can have.  I love watching these women in my life, those that have received me as a sister, find joy in this sport.

Of course, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. There are times when in this, like in any sport, you feel like giving up. There are times when you get injured. And there are times when you just don’t feel like practicing. But there is a wonderful lesson these women have taught me, If you stick with it, it is worth it in the end.

Celebrating Strength, Power, and Collaboration

Western glam photography is a celebration of women in all their strength, beauty, and power. It is a celebration of women who are barrel racers, moms, full-time employees, and everything in between. It is about giving life and joy to your inner child. It is about celebrating the strength, beauty, and power of women.

These women are an inspiration to us all. They show us that we can do anything we set our minds to, and they never give up on their dreams. They are strong, determined, and beautiful, and they deserve to be celebrated.  I am forever grateful that they have received me with open arms and hearts.
