It Takes Healing

Entrepreneurship is all about risk-taking, guts, endurance, faith, and a little luck. What they don’t tell you is that it’s also a journey through self-healing. It’s a process where you have to really know yourself, build boundaries, and sometimes face the parts of you that you’ve been too scared to acknowledge.

When I embarked on my business journey, I thought I was signing up for big wins and endless hustle. Sure, I knew there would be obstacles, but I NEVER expected that I would be one of them.

I have discovered that every step forward, whether a small one or a big risk, comes with a side of inner work.   I have had to accept that this female power business journey requires:

  • first to admit that I might need to do some inner work to get to my desired outcome
  • wait for the ghosts, issues, fears, doubt, and societal lies to show up so that I know where there was inner work to do
  • Then I have to do the work.  Forgive myself, forgive others, and ultimately let go of the past.

Here’s the thing, all of this takes time.  We live in a world that tells us “it should be fast,” it should be easy,” you can make a million working four hours a day.”  All that may be true, but it’s not at the start.  At the start and while you are working to get there, you need to grow, let go, feel the pain and hurt of the past and release it.  You will scream, tell yourself lies, and then tell the truth.  You will absolutely want to quit and go the easy route:  get into or back to some corporate structure……..

But that’s part of the healing process, isn’t it?  We fight when change comes our way, we have attitude and then let go and lean into the pain.  We work through it and grow.  THEN we see the results.  It might look exactly like we thought of something way different.  But the results are there.  And even if it’s not business growth, it’s YOUR growth that prepares you for the future.

As entrepreneurs we always should ask ourselves:

  • What if every risk in your business is also a risk taken toward healing?
  • What if every boundary you set is a declaration of self-respect?
  • What if every setback is a stepping stone towards success and a deeper understanding of who you are?

Really, the “what if” question is what put us on this path in the first place.  “What if” I could do it on my own?  That question is the start of self-healing, even if we didn’t know it.

So, how are you healing today?  What’s the task you are avoiding because you need to slay the demon that’s in front of it?  Will you allow yourself some healing today?
