So I am sitting here, thinking about trying something new, something different, and I am feeling the jitters of excitement and thrill. Then there is that voice in the back of my head………..are you crazy? What are people going to think? What if (insert your frenemy’s name) finds out and tells everyone? What if it doesn’t work or look right?
Here is the thing: That is ALL IN YOUR HEAD……..It really is. Here is how I know:
- You have not tried it, so you don’t actually know how it’s going to work out.
- Contrary to popular belief, past experiences are NOT the drivers for future outcomes. They are the drivers for our behavior, which then leads to the same future outcomes because……we didn’t change a thing; we acted/behaved the same.
Trying something new is not scary; your thoughts are scaring you into sticking to what you know. What’s really scary is:
YOU ARE NOT TRYING SOMETHING NEW THEN REGRETTING IT, LETTING THAT REGRET LIVE RENT FREE IN YOUR MIND.

So here’s the truth: Each moment in our lives is an opportunity to rewrite our story. When you choose to step beyond what you know to be true today, you open up a world full of possibilities.
The alternative of letting our past experiences drive our behaviors is a life where our decisions are fueled by curiosity rather than fear, and we stop sidelining our dreams because of doubts or the opinions of others.
In my mind, the most transformative journeys begin with the single step we take DESPITE the nervous flutter in our chest. Our past experiences are just chapters in our story, not the whole freaking book……. Heck, we are an epic, so there is so much more than some moment of failure that hangs over our heads.
My gift to you today are these empowering truths:
- Growth Lies in the Unknown: Every risk is a chance to discover new strengths within yourself.
- Failure is Feedback: Not every attempt will be perfect, but every effort teaches you something essential.
- Your Voice Matters: Whether you’re blazing a trail or breaking barriers, your journey can (and does) inspire others. So, it’s all worth it in the end, even if it’s not us willing each time. We help others win, too.
- Regret is Reversible: Today is always a new day. Choose to act, learn, and evolve rather than looking back with “what if.”
So, take that leap. Try something that scares you a little. Trust that you have the courage to succeed, to win on your own terms, even if the journey isn’t perfect.
